About Me

Nathan Sauser

I live in Arizona, and I’ve spent the better part of the last decade-plus doing the things most people only get around to when they retire like cooking low-and-slow on my Big Green Egg, hiking trails from the Sonoran Desert to the pines of northern Arizona, and getting hands-on with the gear I actually write about here.

This site started as a place to document what I was figuring out. It’s grown into something I’m genuinely proud of — real experience, tested advice, no fluff.

Outdoor cooking

I’ve owned my Big Green Egg for over 10 years. In that time I’ve dialed in everything from temperature control and long smoke sessions to wood-fired pizza and cold-smoked cheese. A lot of what’s on this site came from trial, error, and a lot of good meals.

If you’re new to kamado cooking, you’re in the right place. If you’ve been at it a while, I hope you find something worth trying.

Hiking Arizona

Arizona gets overlooked as a hiking destination, which is honestly fine by me — fewer people on the trails. I’ve hiked all over the state: desert washes around the Valley, red rock in Sedona, slot canyons in the north, alpine loops at elevation. Every trail guide on this site is a trail I’ve actually walked.

The work side

By day, I work in digital marketing and SEO. I’ve spent years running search strategy and lead generation programs for businesses across Arizona — including several years with one of the state’s top law firms. I’m also a certified Google Ads professional.

That background shapes how I build and maintain this site. But the outdoor stuff? That’s purely personal.
